Two years ago, eight year old Jacob Maggard, asked friends and family to make donations to the Pulaski county animal shelter for his birthday instead of buying gifts. This week, turning ten, Jacob wanted to share his birthday with the animals again. He brought donations he collected, and passed out treats to the dogs and cats. Duke, Nadia, a smaller 11 year old female mix breed and five cats were left in the care of someone who abandon them after their owner passed away. When they arrived at the shelter they appeared to be in shock from all they’ve been through. All have been placed in homes but Duke and Nadia. After a bath, a feeding schedule they can rely on and much needed TLC we’re seeing their personalities. These two sweet babies have so much love to give. They share a kennel and it’s obvious how much they love each other. When it’s yard time Nadia enjoys laying in the water staying cool while Duke enjoys himself no matter what he’s doing. Nadia can be a bit shy when you first meet her but warms up quickly. Duke loves everyone he meets and can’t wait to be your friend. Nadia watches you closely and wants to please and protect you. She’s playful and also content just hanging out with you while doing nothing. Duke is happy-go-lucky and not a care in the world. His sweet seemingly oblivious personality is precious he wants everyone to be as happy as he is.
